News breaks across the world that genetic scientists have created true hybrids, a genetic modification of the human being. After creating and testing the hybrids, they discovered that the TMKs were not only highly intelligent but also very sociable, likeable, and fiercely protective of humans. Because of the latter trade it was decided to release the TMKs into society and to start integrating them with humans. Quickly the TMKs merged into society and became the cool trendy kids on the block and the inspiration for human teens and adults to one day become a hybrid TMK. Scientists were baffled when the news broke that the TMKs were not able to cast a reflection of themselves on any object, not in mirrors, windows, or even water. Even more surprising was when they looked at each other they saw their 2D cartoonish image nothing resembling humans in the very least. The TMKs were lingering in a mirror universe while occupying earth and for this reason their 2D appearance was preserved. The scientist had to come up with a solution, they shot a beam of subatomic particles down a long tunnel which created a mirror in the world where the TMKs were living. When they stepped through this mirror a 3D version of themselves was created and to their surprise, they found themselves in a world with humans where they also looked like humans. They explored the streets, taking in all the new sights and sounds, making new friends. However, some felt a sense of longing for their old lives as 2D characters and wanted to go back to their mirror universe. They had to decide as you can only step through the mirror twice, could they stay in this new world and live as humans, or go back to their old lives as their 2D characters in their familiar world. Some decided to go back, and some stayed. Who decided to stay ?

One thing the TMKs had to remember was that nothing could ever happen to the mirror as that is the link that bonds the 2D TMKs to the 3D TMKs.
